The essential demolition of two derelict houses fronting onto the Main Street in Rathcoole, provided the impetus for the development of this project. While reinforcing the street line on the existing main street, the large backlands area to the rear of the property were opened up for re-development as social housing for the village. The brief required the provision of eight dwellings and associated car parking, and within the tight site this was achieved by the provision of six two bedroom houses, two on the Main Street and four located at the rear of the site. Two interlocking 1 and 2-bedroom apartments in the centre of the site complete the development and screen the remaining backlands areas.
