House Extension,
Churchtown, Dublin 14.
This project required the expanding the living areas of an existing detached house to cater for a growing family. As the rear of the property is north facing, the challenge was to provide light to the new living areas while integrating the garden space with the new extension. Locating the utility room within the original house allows the kitchen and new living area to be pushed outward towards the garden. By providing roof glazing to the rear of the extension, sunlight is brought into the living space from midday, while the west facing glazed wall optimises the evening sun in summer. Sliding doors integrate the new deck with the extension.
